An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar TD, has today (Wednesday) confirmed that 20 additional Gardaí are being allocated to the Dublin Metropolitan Region West (DMRW), which includes Blanchardstown. The Gardaí are among the latest new recruits from the Garda Training College in Templemore.
Speaking today the Taoiseach said:
“This is great news for the local community in Dublin West. The DMRW is one of the busiest Garda divisions in the country and it will be significantly boosted by these 20 additional Gardaí. They will be on the ground from April.
“The Government’s approach to tackling crime is based on increasing Garda numbers, investing in the Garda fleet and better technology, while also strengthening our laws on bail and repeat offenders. We want to see more Gardaí on the beat, and this confirmation that 20 extra Gardaí are being assigned to DMRW will do just that.
“New Gardaí are allocated to division on the basis of demand, which is assessed by the Garda Commissoner. Blanchardstown is one of the busiest stations in the country, and it’s important that Garda numbers continue to rise in the region, to support community and frontline policing.”
