Varadkar welcomes €500,000 in grants to sport organisations in Dublin West

An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar has welcomed more than €500,000 in grants awarded by the Government to sporting organisations in Dublin West.

An Taoiseach said: “Every club and organisation in Dublin 15 and Dublin 7 which made a valid sport grant application this year received a grant in this round. I’m delighted that the Government has held another round of Sports Capital Funding this year as it’s one of the most effective ways to support local clubs. Eleven clubs in Dublin West made successful applications and I know from my time as Minister for Sport that these grants can make a huge difference. There will be another round of grants in 2018, so any club that did not receive a grant can apply again.

“This is the biggest round of sports grants in ten years. The economic recovery we all worked so hard to achieve made it possible. These grants aren’t just good for sport. They will create jobs, build communities and help to improve public health.”
