Dublin West TD and Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar has announced the creation of 40 new R&D jobs at the Mallinckrodt pharmaceutical plant in Blanchardstown.
Minister Varadkar was the keynote speaker at the official announcement of the €10 million investment on Monday at the Mallinckrodt facility in Dublin West.
Minister Varadkar said: “I’m delighted to announce this new investment by Mallinckrodt in Blanchardstown. This company is at the cutting edge of new and innovative treatments and the range of facilities being developed here is an exciting development.
“The Government has worked hard to create the right conditions for cutting edge Pharma and BioPharma companies to locate in Ireland and the provision of high quality jobs in this new Research & Development facility is very welcome. The number of people at work is back up to two million and unemployment continues to fall. This investment means more jobs and more quality jobs in our community.”
The Minister officially opened the company’s offices and announced the creation of the new €10 million state-of-the-art R&D facility at the site in the College Business and Technology Park. The R&D facility will bring the overall total of new positions to 120 by 2017.
With its May 2015 announcement and this commitment, Mallinckrodt has increased its investment in the College Business and Technology Park location to €85 million. This project is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
