Varadkar visits St Patrick’s Breakfast Club

I dropped into the Breakfast Club in St Patrick’s National School, Corduff this morning. It was great to meet everyone involved.

St Patrick’s Junior and Senior schools are just two of the 1,330 schools, preschools and organisations taking part in the school meals local projects scheme this year.

All in all, some 155,000 pupils benefit form the scheme thanks to €37.7 million worth of funding from the Department of Social Protection.

Both schools are also taking part in the Urban School meals Scheme which receives a further €1.1 million from the Department.
It was great to meet the pupils today, along with Dr Pat O’Connor, the Chair of the Board of Management, Principal Aine Kirwan and Claire Greene, a teacher who co-ordinates the Breakfast Club. Thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome.
