Dublin West TD and Minister for Health Leo Varadkar has confirmed that four schools in the area are being funded to improve and upgrade school buildings for students and teachers.

“It’s very welcome news that St Francis Xavier Junior National School, St Philips Senior National School, Scoil Thomais and Coolmine Community School will get funding for electrical or gas works.

“Most of the work will be carried out in schools over the summer months, to minimise disruption to students, teachers and other school staff.

“This funding will help the Boards of Management and school principals to conduct priority gas and electrical projects, and improve and upgrade school buildings.

“This Government is committed to funding improvement and upgrading works in schools to help improve the learning environment. The Summer Works Scheme will also support jobs in the construction sector.

“There has been an enormous investment in new schools, and extensions to existing schools, in the Dublin 15 and Dublin 7 areas in the last few years. Massive housing development occurred during the boom years but the last Government of Fianna Fail, the Greens & Independents left Dublin West behind when it came to new school buildings.”
