Construction starts next month & finishes in 2016

Local TD and Minister for Health Leo Varadkar has said he is delighted that the contract has been signed for work on the new National Indoor Arena at the National Sports Campus in Blanchardstown.

“This is fantastic news for Blanchardstown and for the National Sports Campus. It will be the jewel in the crown for the Campus, providing top-notch training facilities for athletes from this area and from across Ireland. I worked hard on this project while based in the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport and I congratulate Minister Paschal Donohoe and the Campus team for getting this across the line,” Minister Varadkar said.

“The Arena will provide world-class indoor facilities for Irish athletes to train and prepare for international competitions. Work will start next month and the arena should be finished by 2016,” he added.

The Arena will include an Indoor Athletics Training Centre, a multi-sport Indoor Training Centre, and a National Gymnastics Training Centre. Elsewhere on the Campus, work is underway on the Irish Institute of Sport High Performance Centre and the Campus Pavilion Building.
