Varadkar urges youth projects to apply for capital funding

Local TD and Minister for Health Leo Varadkar has urged youth projects in Dublin West to apply for new capital grant funding which has been made available nationwide, totalling €5 million.

“This funding will allow successful applicants to upgrade or replace their equipment including sports equipment, furniture, multi-media equipment and new computers. Most youth projects are largely funded by donations and kept going thanks to the hard work of volunteers, so any extra funding is very welcome,” Minister Varadkar said.

The funding has been made available by Minister for Children James Reilly through a range of schemes including: Special Projects for Youth Scheme, Youth Information Centres, Young People’s Facilities and Services Fund, and the Local Drugs Task Force.

Details of the various schemes and how to apply are on the Department of Children and Youth Affairs website at www.dcya.gov.ie.
