Varadkar welcomes Labour Court recommendation on Aer Lingus

AerLingus agreement

Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar has welcomed the Interim Recommendation issued by the Labour Court today in the dispute between IMPACT and Aer Lingus on rostering arrangements for cabin crew.

The Interim Recommendation sets out specific recommendations to deal with the issues at the centre of the dispute, and a general recommendation designed to improve industrial relations within Aer Lingus.

Minister Varadkar also welcomed IMPACT’s decision to call off the planned industrial action on Monday and Wednesday next week following the conclusion of the Labour Court’s investigation.

“I very much welcome the Labour Court’s assistance in this dispute. In its Interim Recommendation, the Court has plotted a path forward for both sides based on a further process of engagement. The Court has also helpfully issued general recommendations on improving industrial relations at the company, to minimise the possibility of similar disputes arising in the future. This is a very welcome development. I urge both sides to accept the Court’s Interim Recommendation to engage on the basis set out in the Recommendation.”
