Fine Gael Dublin Euro candidate Brian Hayes joined Tourism Minister Leo Varadkar today to wave off Molly Malone before she goes into temporary storage.
Molly is leaving her current location on Lower Grafton Street to facilitate Luas Cross City works, and will move to her new home outside the Dublin Tourism Information Centre, Suffolk Street, for the duration of the Luas works.
The new Luas Cross City project is an infrastructure priority for the Government and will finally link the two main Luas lines. Thousands of passengers will benefit and many more new journeys will become possible when the new line opens.
But before she is re-installed down the road, Molly is going to get a facelift including essential repair, cleaning and conservation work.
