Next stage is to secure funding for construction

Local TD and Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar has welcomed planning permission for new school buildings for St Patrick’s Junior and Senior Schools in Corduff.

The board of management have got permission to build brand new buildings for the junior and senior schools, and to demolish the old ones.

“This is great news for St Patrick’s as it marks another step on the way to new, purpose-built buildings for the school. It’s an exciting project providing new classrooms, play areas, and ball courts. I congratulate the board of management on getting the project to this stage,” Minister Varadkar said.

“As Minister for Transport, I’m also pleased that the new school will have 150 bicycle parking spaces, which fits in well with our programme to get more children cycling to school. The next stage will be to secure funding for the development and get it built as soon as possible.”

The new two storey development will also have 36 classrooms, two school halls, a breakfast club/parent room for the senior school, four new ball courts, and hard and soft play areas.
