The Primary Care Centre for Corduff took one step closer after Fingal County Council granted planning permission for the project, with local TD and Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar describing it as a ‘breakthrough’.
The council has granted full planning permission to the HSE, which has said that work will start later this year or early next year.
“When built, this will be a great asset for the community and will include a new Primary Care Centre, a Child & Adolescent Mental Health Team, an Early Intervention Team, and accommodation for a dental surgery and a GP surgery. The primary care team has been working from Hartstown up to now,” Minister Varadkar said.
“Although we have had to wait a long time to get to this stage, the HSE has stated publicly that work will commence after planning permission is granted. I want to state again that we have got to this stage thanks to the campaigners who have worked tirelessly to get the centre started.”
The centre will be based near Corduff Shopping Centre at Blackcourt Road, Corduff. Access will be from Blackcourt Road, with pedestrian access points from Corduff Avenue, Corduff Gardens, Corduff Way and Corduff Shopping Centre. There will be car parking for 61 vehicles and 20 cycle spaces. The building will have two and three storey sections and will be more than 2,000 square metres in size.
A number of conditions have been attached including one which will benefit residents: namely that work will be restricted to between 8am and 6pm on weekdays and between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, with no work on Sundays and bank holidays.
