Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport and local TD Varadkar has said reports that the Olhausen plant in Blanchardstown has ceased trading are a terrible blow for the staff.
“I’d like to extend my sympathy to all the Olhausen staff who learned today that the company has ceased trading. This has come as a terrible blow to everyone affected.
“Olhausen is a significant employer in Blanchardstown with more than 100 people based at the facility. We must now hope that an alternative investor can be found to keep the company going. I know that Enterprise Ireland has already held extensive discussions with the company during this difficult period, and the agency will continue to work closely with the appointed receiver.
“I welcome reports that outstanding wages will be paid, and that statutory redundancy will be provided.
“Olhausen has excellent brands and an extensive business and supplies a large number of major retailers and food companies. Hopefully this will make the company an attractive proposition for any potential investor.”
