Minister Varadkar attends Irish Wolfhound Championship Show in Farmleigh

Minister Varadkar is seen here with ‘Corporal Cú’ at the Irish Wolfhound Championship Show held by the Irish Wolfhound Club in Farmleigh last Sunday. Also pictured is Eddie Bourke, Show Manager.

Corporal Cú has been mascot to Irish Army and is now retiring at the age of seven. He will now continue as Mascot attached to the 2nd Field Artillery Regiment, Irish Army at McKee Barracks.

A new puppy Fionn, who was handed over at the start of the show, will become the next Mascot when he completes his training. He will then pass out as ‘Corporal Fionn’ as part of the army’s tradition of using Irish Wolfhound Mascots for parade duties.

Cú and Fionn will also be available for duty as Mascot at Farmleigh House when required.

The Irish Wolfhound is one of the 5 symbols of Ireland.
